Funded by generous donations, the non-profit organization of the FREE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS DINNER will once again be serving dinner on Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec 25th, 2018. For the second year, this event will be held at the Columbus Home Association Event Center (aka Knights of Columbus-behind the Bank Shot), 1112 Eighth Street, Alamosa, CO.
Ann Edstrom Watters founded this event in 1990 to ensure that no one had to spend Christmas alone. Although Ann has passed away, her legacy continues through the dedication of committee members, generous donations, and the combined efforts of numerous San Luis Valley communities. Continued monetary support is what makes this annual event possible.
Please mail donations to: FCCD, PO Box 1981, Alamosa, CO 81101
Families and friends come together to share in these festivities and are served a delicious turkey dinner while the children visit with Santa, pick out gifts, enter drawings for bikes, and participate in coloring contests.
HOMEBOUND meals are also delivered to those in the Alamosa locale; those needing meals delivered on Christmas Day should call Sandy/719-580-9182 and or email fccdinner@gmail.com and provide your name(s), address for delivery.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS!
The feat of feeding1,000+/- people is no easy task. It takes an estimate of 100 volunteers to pull this off. Anyone wanting to volunteer please call/text Debi at 719-298-8049 or email fccdinner@gmail.com. Shifts will change on the hour mark and will run for an hour with the first shift starting at 11 am and the last one starting at 2 pm. Please plan on checking in 15 minutes early and enter through the south door. Volunteers are needed for the following: servers for dinners, drinks, desserts; clean-up personnel, greeters, seaters; station personnel for dessert, coffee and drinks tables; kitchen help and turkey carvers.
