Merry Christmas everyone!
Although some of you have already spoken with me regarding volunteering, please confirm via text to 719-588-3815 with YES if you are planning to volunteer at our ’30 year’ event this coming Wednesday!
Many options are open for our volunteers; you can pick days/times that meet your hectic holiday schedules.
Monday, Dec 23rd, 1pm to 5pm:
- Kitchen/food prep: Turkey carving starting at 1pm.
- Other needs also starting at 1pm.
- Bag Fruit for Home-bound Meals
- Setup shelves on stage and areas designated for drinks, desserts, and coffee
- Setup tables; place covers, centerpieces, place-mats and silverware.
- Setup Santa’s Stage w/toys, etc.
Tuesday, Dec 24th, 9am to 6pm
- Prep of sweet potatoes, stuffing, mashed potatoes
- Fill cranberry cups
- Finish decorating
Christmas Day, Wednesday Dec 25th
Volunteers please use the south entrance of the Columbus Home Association Event Center.
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT COME IF YOU ARE SICK!
EARLY SHIFT STARTS AT 10:30AM; Sign-in and collect your name tags.
- NOTE: If you dealing with food you need to wear rubber gloves (changing them frequently) and wear hair nets; these items are furnished.
- Seater/Server: Meet guests and front entrance and seat guests where seating is available; take note how many and what sizes (adult or child plates) of meals are needed and proceed to the Steam Tables area to collect meals. deliver these back to the guests that you just seated. Go back to the front entrance and pickup your next guests and repeat.
- Platers/Dippers: Steam Tables: add food of the appropriate amount to each plate at told to you by the Server; there are two sizes-adult or child plate.
- Sub-servers: Serves for bread, cranberries, drinks, desserts to seated guests. Rolling carts and/or trays will be used for these tasks. Keeping your eyes on the crowd is the key as you must notify the bussers when guests have left.
- Bus-Tables: Without rushing our guests, cover the crowd picking up plates, glasses, silver, etc and place in trash cans. Wipe the table area and reset with new place mats and silverware packet.
- Trash Can Duty: Make sure that trash cans are dumped frequently; large trash bins will be on the southwest corner of the building.

The following shift times apply ONLY to Christmas Day.
- Early shift: 10:30am to noon
- Mid-day: Noon to 1:30
- Late Shift: 1:30pm 3pm
- Clean-up: 3pm to 5pm
