The 2016 Free Community Christmas Dinner was once again a great success! Over 800 people enjoyed a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Santa kept the children in anxious expectation. The American Legion Hall was a Christmas wonderland, and boasted the most festive decorations made by children that attend the Alamosa Middle School under the guidance of James Crane. Adding to the joyful mood was music provided by the “MARIMBA ESPIRITU MAYA” that caused quite the toe tapping. The Toy Shop gave away 11 bicycles in various sizes, toys for children ages 0 to 14, and several gift baskets with household items for adults who had the winning mark on the back of their chairs. As people left with their appetites satisfied and gifts in hand, there were yet more goodies…bags of San Luis Valley potatoes and sacks of oranges to take home. For those who were unable to travel to the dinner, a team of drivers delivered over 200 meals to the homes in Alamosa.
